Revelation...

i don't think many people know this but when i set out to write the story of six feet, it wasn't intended to be told in novel form. my original desire was to write a screenplay. however, as the story rolled around in my head and developed into a more than anticipated love story (if you will), i wondered how it could ever be done on screen. especially as i learned more and more about heath, i began to think, who in the world could fill those shoes? and if someone tried, poor them for trying. but as many days have passed and even more hours up at night mulling it over, i honestly believe it was meant to be on the screen-portrayed in a format where someone can see and hear and feel and hope their way through it as i did. granted, most people who enjoy reading have very vivid imaginations and characters can come alive (so to speak) in books. but i would love the opportunity to "show" people how i saw this story-how it came alive for me as i pained through every breath with Georgia, and hopefully one day soon i will be able to.
take care,

Discovery!

I have recently been introduced to a new artist...she is a native Texan (which I was shocked I hadn’t heard of her before now!) but currently resides in Oregon: Irene Hardwicke-Olivieri.
Here is her website if you want to discover her too! Her work is fascinating and to me resonates the free spirit of Austin (one of the places mentioned that she studied in) throughout many of her pieces.
My personal favorite, though it was hard to choose one: Fruits of the manatee…positively breathtaking.

Have a look…you will become a fan. J

November already!

i hadn't realized it was November already and i hadn't posted anything this month! i better get cracking!
the good news is, i am thoroughly excited about my second book and it's characters. they truly are haunting me to get this story down. i know that might sound strange but when i write, i think about them all the time. so it's been hard to set aside georgia and heath, but beta and joshua beckon! ha! it's funny how your characters become such a huge part of who you are. i'm glad though b/c it means that i care about what happens to them and hope that my readers do as well.
thanks for all the followings on twitter and goodreads. it's nice to be in the company of great folks!

Better late than never!

Being at the Texas Book Festival this past weekend reminded me that I needed to post some photos from my trip to the Brooklyn one over a month ago! So here are a few, including my night at the wonderful Five Leaves in Greenpoint with my mom and Auntie and one of them manning the booth!

I guess in about another month I will post photos from the Texas one! :)

Thank you to Brooklyn, NYC!

I haven't properly thanked the wonderful people of Brooklyn and NYC-to those who came out for the Brooklyn Book Festival and to those who made my time there very memorable!
It was a quick trip but I met some great and talented folks and I'm ready to go back very soon!

Lack of sleep...

i'm having a hard time sleeping lately. too many things on my mind. too many things to do and not enough time...the same old complaint. :) however, taking a deep breath always works.

last night i was restless thinking about shekhar. i was reeling over possibilities and wondering what he will think...
